چکیده

Researchers or students entering a emerging research area are particularly interested in what newly published papers will be most cited and which young researchers will become influential in the future, so that they can catch the most recent advances and find valuable research directions. However, predicting the future importance of scientific articles and authors is extremely hard due to the dynamic nature of literature networks and evolving research topics. Di↵erent from most previous studies aiming to rank the current importance of literature and authors, we focus on ranking the future popularity of new publications and young researchers by proposing a unified ranking model to combine various available information. Specifically, we first propose to use two kinds of text features, words and words co-occurrence to characterize innovative papers and authors. Then, instead of using static and un-weighted graphs, we construct timeaware weighted graphs to distinguish the various importance of links established at di↵erent time. Finally, by leveraging both the constructed text features and graphs, we propose a mutual reinforcement ranking framework called MRFRank to rank the future importance of papers and authors simultaneously. Experimental results on the ArnetMiner dataset show that the proposed approach significantly outperforms the baselines on the metric recommendation intensity.

FutureRank: Ranking Scientific Articles by Predicting their Future PageRank

The dynamic nature of citation networks makes the task of ranking scientific articles hard. Citation networks are continually evolving because articles obtain new citations every day. For ranking scientific articles, we can define the popularity or prestige of a paper based on the number of past citations at the user query time; however, we argue that what is most useful is the expected future ...

Exploiting heterogeneous scientific literature networks to combat ranking bias: Evidence from the computational linguistics area

It is important to help researchers find valuable papers from a large literature collection. To this end, many graphbased ranking algorithms have been proposed. However, most of these algorithms suffer from the problem of ranking bias. Ranking bias hurts the usefulness of a ranking algorithm because it returns a ranking list with an undesirable time distribution. This paper is a focused study o...

Contents and time sensitive document ranking of scientific literature

A new link-based document ranking framework is devised with at its heart, a contents and time sensitive random literature explorer designed to more accurately model the behaviour of readers of scientific documents. In particular, our ranking framework dynamically adjusts its random walk parameters according to both contents and age of encountered documents, thus incorporating the diversity of t...
